Connecticut Car Crashes

In Connecticut, hundreds of people lose their lives each year in traffic accidents. In 2022, 368 individuals reportedly died due to fatal auto accidents in the state, which was the highest number of fatalities recorded in the state’s history. Additionally, 2022 was the first year in which the state recorded more than one fatality per day related to car crashes. The majority of auto accidents in Connecticut and throughout the United States are caused by negligent driving.

Especially in the past decade, negligent driving has become the main cause of over 94% of auto accidents in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association. Drivers who speed, travel while fatigued, intoxicated, or distracted, risk their own lives and the lives of everyone around them on the road. In the past ten years, driver distraction has become the most common form of driver negligence seen among American drivers, causing over 400,000 auto accidents per year and about 3,000 deaths.
