Fairfield, CT (June 24, 2025) — A tragic hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a 25-year-old moped rider late Saturday evening, June 21, in Fairfield, according to local authorities.
Police responded to the scene around 9:30 p.m. after multiple 911 callers reported a serious collision near the intersection of Post Road and South Benson Road. Investigators say the vehicle involved initially left the scene, but both the driver and the vehicle were later located.
The moped rider, whose identity has not yet been publicly released, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Roads in the area were shut down for approximately three hours as officers investigated the crash. Authorities noted that community cooperation played a key role, with several residents quickly reporting the incident and voluntarily sharing video evidence to assist law enforcement.
An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing.
