Fatal Car Accidents in Connecticut

Tragedies like this highlight the growing problem of fatal car accidents in Connecticut. In recent years, state data shows hundreds of deaths caused by motor vehicle crashes across Connecticut, with urban areas such as New Haven seeing the highest numbers.

The most common factors in deadly accidents include:

  • Speeding: It is frequently associated with late-night or early-morning crashes.
  • Driving Under the Influence: Alcohol and drugs continue to be a top cause of fatal wrecks
  • Distracted Driving: Texting or other in-car distractions can take a driver’s eyes off the road for seconds, with deadly consequences
  • Fatigue: Drowsy drivers behind the wheel at night are especially vulnerable to losing control

For families, the consequences go far beyond the crash scene. A fatal accident can leave surviving relatives facing medical bills, funeral expenses, and years of lost income and companionship. Connecticut law allows families to file a wrongful death claim in cases where negligence caused the accident.

Having a skilled wrongful death lawyer on your side can make a crucial difference. An attorney can investigate the crash, determine liability, and fight for compensation to ease the financial burden during such an overwhelming time.
