Vernon, CT (July 15, 2024) – A pedestrian was struck and killed in a collision in Vernon on Saturday, July 13. At around 5:10 a.m., the state police were called to the scene on Interstate 84 near Exit 85. The vehicle struck the pedestrian, who died from his injuries. He was identified as John Kaszowski, 65, of Manchester. The eastbound lanes between mile markers 64 and 66 were closed while police worked to investigate the scene. Local drivers were forced to use alternate routes while the crash site was active with responders.
