Connecticut Motorcycle Accidents
Connecticut continues to see a troubling number of fatal motorcycle accidents each year, reflecting a nationwide challenge in keeping motorcyclists safe on the road. In a recent year, more than 50 riders lost their lives in crashes across the state—tragedies that ripple through families and communities, leaving behind grief, unanswered questions, and financial hardship.
Across the United States, thousands of motorcyclists are killed annually, with many accidents linked to preventable factors. In Connecticut, driver inattention is a leading cause of deadly motorcycle collisions. Distracted driving—whether from texting, phone use, or other in-vehicle distractions—can have catastrophic consequences when a driver fails to see a rider. Speeding, impaired driving, and unsafe lane changes are also major contributors, while the lack of a protective barrier means motorcyclists are far more likely to suffer fatal injuries in a crash.
When a motorcyclist’s death is caused by another driver’s careless or reckless behavior, surviving family members may have the right to file a wrongful death claim. While no legal outcome can replace a loved one, financial compensation can help ease the burden of funeral expenses, medical bills, lost income, and the emotional suffering endured by those left behind.
