Lisbon, CT (August 21, 2024) – A woman from Plainfield lost her life after being involved in a severe traffic accident on August 20.
At approximately 10:15 p.m., on Monday, the wreck occurred in Lisbon on the northbound side of Interstate 395 between exits 18 and 19. State police report that a 2000 Dodge Ram Wagon 3500 was operating north when it left the right side of the road before hitting a bridge abutment from the Preson Allen Road overpass. Following the accident, the van caught fire and had to be extinguished by emergency fire officials. The victim was identified as 33-year-old Anjelly Berrios. The driver of the van was transported to William Backus Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. State Police with the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad are assisting with the crash investigation. The highway was closed for several hours while emergency responders worked in the area. Police continue to investigate.
