Connecticut Car Crashes

Connecticut has its fair share of severe car accidents, with tens of thousands of injury crashes happening every year. Tragically, about 360 people lose their lives in these collisions annually in the state. In 2022 alone, 368 people died in traffic accidents across Connecticut. The year before, in 2021, over 31,500 residents were treated in emergency rooms for car accident-related injuries, more than 1,000 were admitted to hospitals, and 328 have lost their lives.

In New Britain, Connecticut, the leading cause of car accidents is speeding, followed closely by intoxication and distracted driving. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, over 94% of car accidents in the United States are due to driver negligence or error. Accidents caused by distracted or intoxicated drivers often result in more severe injuries and are more likely to be fatal. Driving under the influence is particularly dangerous, as it impairs a driver’s judgment, vision, and motor skills.
