New Haven, CT (May 20, 2024) – A fatal traffic accident involving a tractor-trailer happened in New Haven on Saturday morning, May 18, on Interstate 91. Police report the wreck occurred at around 3:30 a.m. between a semi-truck and a BMW. The driver of the BMW was identified as a 22-year-old man from New Britain. He was removed from the vehicle by a passerby before being transported to a local hospital by ambulance. Due to the extent of his injuries, he later lost his life, officials said. The driver of the tractor-trailer sustained no injuries in the wreck. Both the north and southbound sides of I-91 were closed for approximately 8 hours. Police in New Haven continue to investigate the details of the accident.
