Rocky Hill, CT (April 3, 2024) – An East Hartford man lost his life after a multi-vehicle collision that caused three people to sustain injuries. It happened on Interstate 91 South in Rocky Hill on the night of March 30. Several responders were dispatched to the scene on Saturday, including the Rocky Hill Fire Department, police, and paramedics. The wreck occurred at around 11:52 p.m. near exit 22 South when the driver of an Acura Tlx Tech collided with the rear end of a tractor-trailer and collided with another vehicle that was nearby. Police report that the other driver veered into the right shoulder, went through a guardrail, over an embankment, and struck another guardrail. The Connecticut State Police, Rocky Hill Police, Rocky Hill EMS, and the Connecticut Department of Transportation responded to the scene. The driver of the third involved vehicle was identified as D’andre Muguel Charles, 25, of East Hartford. Charles was pronounced deceased on-site by medical professionals. The driver and two passengers present in the Acura Tlx were taken to St. Francis Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The tractor-trailer driver sustained no injuries and declined medical care at the scene.
