Thomaston, CT (May 19, 2025) – A chain-reaction crash in Thomaston on Saturday evening, May 18, has left one motorcyclist dead and several others injured.
First responders were dispatched to the 1000 block of Waterbury Road around 5:20 p.m. following reports of a collision involving an SUV and a motorcycle. According to investigators, a 63-year-old man was driving his SUV southbound when he struck a 55-year-old motorcyclist who was heading north.
Shortly after the initial impact, a second motorcycle—also traveling north—was unable to stop in time and crashed into the already wrecked SUV at a sharp curve in the roadway. The second motorcycle was carrying a 29-year-old male driver and a 27-year-old female passenger.
All four individuals—the two motorcyclists, the SUV driver, and the motorcycle passenger—were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Tragically, the motorcyclist involved in the first crash later died from their injuries. Their name has not yet been released as authorities notify next of kin. Police in Thomaston continue to investigate the incident.
We want to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
