East Haven, CT (November 18, 2025) – Several people sustained serious injuries on Monday, November 17, after a Ford F350 truck caused a series of collisions along Coe Avenue in East Haven.

The first crash happened just after 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of Hemmingway Avenue and Dodge Avenue when the truck struck another vehicle. Instead of stopping, the driver continued south on Coe Avenue, crashing into a second car before plowing into several more vehicles near the intersection of Coe Avenue and Silver Sands Road.

Emergency crews arrived within minutes and found several victims trapped inside their vehicles. Firefighters worked quickly to free them. Paramedics provided urgent medical care before transporting the injured to nearby hospitals for further care.

Police shut down Coe Avenue at Silver Sands Road for several hours as the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit investigated the scene and cleared the wreckage. Officials have not yet released details about the driver or what led to the chain of collisions. The investigation remains active.

Our hearts are with those injured in this devastating crash. We wish them a full and steady recovery.

Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Connecticut

Multi-vehicle crashes are among the most dangerous and complex accidents on Connecticut roads. When several cars collide, the results can be catastrophic, leaving victims facing long hospital stays, painful recoveries, and emotional trauma.

According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, thousands of multi-car collisions occur every year, especially on busy routes and intersections across New Haven. These crashes often begin with one small impact that quickly spirals into a chain reaction affecting multiple drivers.

Some of the most common causes include:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Sudden braking or tailgating that triggers rear-end impacts
  • Drivers running red lights or failing to yield at intersections
  • Poor weather or limited visibility that reduces control and reaction time
  • Mechanical failure in large vehicles

Victims of multi-vehicle crashes often suffer severe injuries such as broken bones, spinal damage, or traumatic brain injuries. These injuries can lead to long-term pain, emotional distress, and months of physical therapy or surgery. Many victims also face lasting financial and personal consequences that affect their families and quality of life.

After a serious crash, victims may be entitled to compensation for their medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering. Insurance companies frequently try to minimize payouts, offering settlements that fall far short of what victims truly need to recover. A skilled truck accident lawyer can step in to challenge those tactics and fight for full compensation for medical costs, pain, suffering, and future care needs.
