Stamford, CT (August 2, 2025) — A young boy was tragically killed in a hit-and-run crash on Saturday night, August 2, while sitting on a mini-bike near the 300 block of Courtland Avenue, according to Stamford police.
The collision occurred shortly after 8:45 p.m. when a vehicle struck the boy, throwing him from the bike and into a nearby yard. Authorities say the driver fled the scene without stopping to help.
Two nearby residents who heard the crash rushed outside and immediately began administering CPR. Emergency responders from the Stamford Fire Department and EMS soon arrived and continued life-saving efforts before transporting the child to Stamford Hospital.
Despite all efforts, the boy was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Police confirmed that the victim was 13 years old, though school officials reported he was 12 and preparing to enter the seventh grade.
The Stamford Police Department believes they have located the vehicle and driver involved in the fatal collision, but further details have not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing.
We extend our sincere sympathies to the family of the deceased victim.
Connecticut Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrian accidents are among the most devastating incidents on Connecticut’s roads, often leaving families to cope with sudden loss and unanswered questions. Every year, dozens of pedestrians are killed in collisions across the state—from quiet residential streets to busy intersections in towns like East Hartford and North Stonington.
These tragedies are frequently the result of driver negligence—whether due to speeding, distracted driving, failure to yield, or impaired operation. In many cases, the victims are simply walking to work, crossing the street, or standing near the roadway when disaster strikes.
Under Connecticut law, families who have lost a loved one in a pedestrian crash may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. This legal action can provide compensation for funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and the emotional pain of losing someone far too soon. Thanks to the state’s comparative negligence system, a family may still recover damages as long as their loved one was found to be less than 50% at fault for the accident.
Having an experienced Connecticut wrongful death attorney on your side is critical. A knowledgeable lawyer will investigate the crash scene, collect eyewitness testimony and surveillance footage, review traffic reports, and work with experts to establish fault. This thorough approach is key to holding the at-fault party accountable and securing meaningful compensation.
